Year 6 vist the Royal Navy Museum

Year 6 set sail on the high seas as they visited the Royal Navy Museum.
Recently, Year 6 embarked on an exciting trip to the Royal Navy Museum in Hartlepool.
The adventure began at the History of Hartlepool exhibition, where pupils delved into the rich past of the local area.
Next, an unexpected twist awaited them—they were captured by pirates and taken aboard the HMS Trincomalee! After being freed, they explored the ship, discovering the stark contrasts in living conditions depending on a person's role onboard.
Back on dry land, the class took part in an interactive walk-through show, immersing themselves in the daily life of a pirate.
After lunch, pupils traveled through time, learning about the evolution of ships, their uses, and how maritime history has shaped the present.
Then, it was time to dive beneath the waves! An intriguing exhibition showcased artifacts that once sailed the seas but now rest beneath them—exploring shipwrecks, hidden treasures, and the mysteries of the deep. Ahoy there, matey!
The day concluded with a visit to the Fishermen’s and Pirates’ houses, where pupils stepped into the past, examining living conditions, weaponry, and traditional foods.
It was a fantastic day filled with discovery, adventure, and fascinating tales of the sea!
