Farewell to our Esteemed Headmaster

Today we bid farewell to our long standing headmaster Mr Johnson.

Dear Mr. Johnson,

Today marks a bittersweet farewell as we say goodbye to you, our esteemed headmaster.

For over two decades, Argyle House School has been your passion, and your influence has profoundly shaped the lives of countless young individuals. Words fall short in expressing our deep gratitude for all that you have done.

Argyle House School is not just an institution; it is a family, and that sense of belonging is a testament to you and your own family. Your father’s vision in acquiring the school in 1969 laid the foundation, and your cherished memories of summers spent here with him and your brother have woven a rich tapestry of history. When you took the helm in 2002, you infused the school with your unique spirit and dedication.

As you walk these familiar halls for the final time today, we recognise that this truly signifies the end of an era.

It will feel strange not to see you in the corridors, not to have the comfort of knocking on your office door for guidance.

We are immensely grateful for the countless hours you have devoted behind the scenes, often unnoticed.

Thank you for organising memorable trips, for the long hours spent on buses filled with laughter and excitement. Thank you for the meals prepared in the camp field and for the many times you’ve set up and taken down tents for us.

Thank you for the meticulous planning of parents' evenings (though some of us might not miss that part!). Thank you for coordinating the sports events that brought us together and for orchestrating the school shows that showcased our talents.

Thank you for being there at the bottom of the ski slope at Silksworth, ready to lift us up when we stumbled. Thank you for your unwavering support on the sidelines of sports pitches, coaching us and inspiring us to reach our potential.

The list of your contributions is endless, and on behalf of all the pupils, parents, and staff—both past and present—we extend our heartfelt thanks for your remarkable service. We wish you all the best in your future endeavours; you have truly earned it!

Lots of love

Everyone at Argyle House School
