Year 10 Visit Nissan

Year 10 Business Studies students visited the vast Nissan site in Sunderland.

Year 10 Business Studies students visited the vast Nissan site in Sunderland.

First, they were given a presentation on the North East's proud industrial heritage, followed by an opportunity to put their own construction skill sets into practice by building a tall, free-standing tower out of cups, paper sheets and paper clips. Mina team won, with Mina adding that all-important spire using a set of safety stairs whilst the other two teams' towers yielded to gravity. Oh, well...We guess that's what makes the Leaning Tower of Pisa unique.

The highlight of the visit was a tour of certain sections of the factory floor, where the students watched skilled technicians fitting consoles, onboard computers and heat shields, whilst AI and self-driving vehicles operated and moved around them.

A brilliant visit which sparked some future career thoughts in a number of the students.
