Ethos & Aims

Argyle House School has a strong family background. This results in a very safe and caring environment, one which is often reflected in the idea of the school being a family in itself. Feeling part of the Argyle House School family is emphasised in the way the children are taught, and helped to develop into strong individual characters, who will be able to succeed in the world today.

We emphasise that education should be fun, but that each child should work hard to achieve their best, reflected in the school’s motto “Work Conquers All”, embracing this core vocabulary: Responsible, Reflective, Resourceful, Resilient and Reasoning. This is achieved through the dedication of the teaching staff, the small class sizes and the facilities on offer to the children.

Our aim is to give the children the facilities of a large school, but keep the class sizes small. This offers each individual child the opportunity to learn and develop his/her abilities; academically, socially, emotionally and physically.

'The school seeks to create a family atmosphere and to foster responsibility, resourcefulness, resilience, reasoning and respect. The school aims to provide facilities such as those found in larger schools, but with aim of keeping class sizes small whilst offering each child the opportunity to learn and fully develop their facilities' - ISI Report, 2022.

What our parents think

'My daughter joined Argyle House half way through Year 9, it’s the best decision as family we have made. She is like a different girl, attends every day with a smile on her face and has made some fantastic friends. The support and communication from the school is really excellent. The opportunities for the children are amazing - could not recommend Argyle House School highly enough.' Mrs Cope.
