Year 9 and Beyond
Careers Guidance
From Year 9 onwards, our pupils begin exploring life beyond Argyle House School. We are committed to helping every pupil build a bright future, regardless of the path they choose. Careerwave, our dedicated careers advisory service, visits the school weekly to offer one-on-one guidance sessions. These sessions help pupils consider their options, whether they are interested in apprenticeships, college courses, or university pathways. Together, we help map out a plan for achieving their dreams and outline the steps required to make them a reality.
GCSEs at Argyle House School
At Argyle House School, pupils begin making important decisions about their future at the end of Year 9 when they are asked to select their GCSE subjects. Compulsory subjects for all pupils include Mathematics, English, Science, and French, ensuring a strong foundation in core academic areas.
In addition to these core subjects, pupils have the option to choose from a broad range of additional subjects. Our optional subjects include History, Geography, Business Studies, Music, Drama, ICT, Art, and PE. This variety allows pupils to tailor their education according to their individual strengths, interests, and future aspirations.
We understand that every pupil learns differently, so we create flexible timetables that cater to the specific needs of both the individual and the class. Throughout the GCSE program, we provide continuous support to help each pupil perform to the best of their ability. Regular planning and review meetings are conducted between pupils, parents, and school staff to monitor progress, identify areas for improvement, and ensure that each child is on track to achieve their goals.
Life After Argyle House School
We take pride in preparing our pupils for the future, equipping them with the tools and opportunities needed to succeed. Many of our pupils continue on to colleges or sixth-form centres before pursuing higher education at universities, while others secure apprenticeships and enter the workforce with confidence.
