Extra Curricular Activities
At Argyle House School, we take pride in offering pupils a wide range of activities that extend beyond the classroom, fostering creativity, teamwork, and personal growth.
Clubs:
We provide a variety of clubs that run daily, including before and after school, as well as during lunch breaks. These clubs are facilitated by both school staff and external instructors and change on a termly basis.
For Infant pupils, club options include Sign Language, Sport, Dance, Karate, Origami, Art, Games, and Mindfulness. Juniors can enjoy clubs such as Board Games, Film Club, Dance, Lego, Skiing, Football, and Spanish. Senior pupils have the opportunity to take part in Lego, Animation, Crochet, Drama, Brain Teasers and Logic Puzzles, Boxing, and French Film Club to name a few.
School Council:
The Argyle House School Council plays a significant role in representing the pupils. Open to children from Year 5 onwards, the council holds regular meetings with the senior leadership team to discuss what pupils appreciate about the school and propose areas for improvement. The council also organises events and trips, including the popular summer fun trip.
Trips and Visits:
We believe that learning beyond the classroom is just as valuable as classroom-based learning. Throughout the academic year, we organise numerous trips—both day and residential—that enhance pupils' educational experiences. Day trips include visits to Rainton Meadows Nature Reserve, Hamsterley Forest, and Tynemouth Aquarium. Residential trips range from field studies in Yorkshire to skiing in Austria, sightseeing in Paris, and our renowned Summer Camp.
Sports:
Sport is a vital aspect of daily life at Argyle House School. Children participate in skill-based lessons that gradually incorporate competitive team games. These lessons take place in our sports hall and at Silksworth Sports Complex, a short drive from the school. Swimming lessons are offered throughout the academic year for children aged four and above. Pupils also compete in regular matches against local schools and participate in inter-house competitions that run throughout the school year.
