Pupil Wellbeing and Pastoral Care

At Argyle House School, pupil wellbeing is at the forefront of everything we do.

We are fortunate to enjoy an incredibly kind community where staff are supportive and nurturing.  In creating this environment, each pupil can freely develop into their own self and gain confidence and independence.

Pastoral Care

At Argyle House School we are fortunate in that we have an incredibly kind community where staff are supporting and nurturing of all students, and because we are run on family values, each child is known to all the staff individually and cared for as if they are part of the school family.

Creating a family environment allows each child to develop self-confidence and independence. The system in place allows the staff to support and be sympathetic to every child’s needs. The staff are always readily available for consultation and advice. The children can ask any member of staff for help, but because this is such an important area for the development of the child, specific teachers have been assigned for this role to ensure that this is sensitively managed.

All members are on hand should parents or pupils need it, but our specifically trained staff are:

Mrs C Said – Head of Pastoral Care

Mr J Blair – Designated Safeguarding Lead

Mrs N Smillie– Deputy Safeguarding lead

Mrs L McIntosh – Deputy Safeguarding Lead

Houses:

Upon enrolment at Argyle House School, each pupil is assigned to one of three houses: Red, Gold, or Green, each led by designated House Captains. The school’s house system plays a vital role in fostering teamwork and camaraderie. Pupils collaborate within their respective houses during various team events, such as the swimming gala and sports day, where they compete collectively to earn points and prizes for their house.

Food and Drinks:

All meals are served in the Dining Room, where pupils dine together with their peers and enjoy freshly prepared, home-cooked meals made on-site. A wide selection of meal options is offered on a four-week rotational menu. Fresh fruit is available throughout the day, allowing pupils to self-serve during break times. As part of the school’s commitment to environmental sustainability, single-use plastic bottles have been eliminated. Pupils are encouraged to bring reusable water bottles from home, which can be refilled at the school’s water fountains.
