Little Crickets Sunderland
We are delighted to introduce a 50 week Nursery at Argyle House. Led by a team of fully qualified teachers, we will ensure your child receives the best learning experience possible as they begin their educational journey with us. In addition to our outstanding curriculum, we offer a whole host of enriching clubs, such as the Explorers Club, Construction Club, Origami, Directed Drawing, Ballet, and Young Dragons Karate.
At Argyle House Nursery, learning extends beyond the classroom, with a variety of curriculum-linked trips. We visit exciting places like Rainton Meadows, the Blue Reef Aquarium and the local fire station, attend Theatre performances, all enhancing the children’s understanding and appreciation of the world around them.
We believe in strong partnerships with parents, which is why we host regular Parent Workshops on Early Reading and Number Skills. We provide Parent Observation Booklets to give parents a voice in their child’s education and offer Parent View Nights, allowing children to share their learning journey with their parents. Additionally, we hold Parent Evenings twice a year and provide detailed progress reports every six weeks, in order to keep parents informed about their child’s development.
Our nursery welcomes visitors, to create diverse and exciting experiences for the children. From workshops on water density and perfume, to bath-bomb making with P&G, and visits from authors, dentists, doctors and even a beekeeper, our children learn from real-world experts.
We also believe in fostering a strong sense of community at Argyle House. Our Parent Stay and Plays, both in and out of school, allow parents, staff, and children to engage in fun activities together. Recently, we organized a sponsored walk to Penshaw Monument, where families learned about its history, created their own Lambton worm, and celebrated with water and biscuits at the top. We also hosted a Nursery Rhyme Week Stay and Play, emphasising the importance of nursery rhymes in early reading and speech development.
We take pride in creating special moments, like our highly successful “Mystery Reader” programme, where parents surprise their children by visiting the school to share a story, creating cherished memories.
The Nursery is an integral part of our school, benefitting from access to all the school’s facilities. This ensures a seamless and enriching learning experience for our little learners. Furthermore, our nursery encourages interaction with older peers. Nursery children have sessions with the Reception class. This provides invaluable opportunities for children to build foundational friendships that will benefit them as they transition to full-time school.
